Al-Zour Refinery

Situated 90 kilometres south of Kuwait City, Al-Zour Refinery occupies 16 square kilometres. As Kuwait's largest oil processing facility, the Refinery processes 615,000 barrels daily, ranking seventh among the world's top 10 largest refineries.

The facility features six of the world's largest Atmospheric Distillation Units and an advanced Desulfurisation system achieving 99.9% recovery rates. It includes a Hydroprocessing Unit that eliminates waxy materials to produce Ultra-low-sulfur Diesel with minimal sulfur content, meeting stringent European standards.

Al-Zour incorporates an artificial island for liquid product exports and dedicated facilities for solid material handling. The complex comprises cutting-edge environmental technology, including zero liquid discharge systems that recycle and reuse all generated wastewater.

The Refinery maintains a storage capacity of 6.5 million barrels of Low-sulfur Fuel, ensuring strategic reserves through seasonal and operational fluctuations while providing continuous, reliable fuel supply to Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity and Water.

Al-Zour Refinery delivers substantial economic benefits, raising Kuwait's combined refining capacity—including Mina Abdullah and Mina Al-Ahmadi—to 1.415 million barrels daily. It advances the national development plan, generates employment for Kuwaiti professionals, and catalyses regional investment and economic growth.

The Refinery produces premium quality petroleum products meeting international environmental standards. The facility has successfully exported Kerosene, Naphtha, Premium Jet Fuel, Low-sulfur Fuel Oil, and Low-sulfur Diesel to global markets, strengthening Kuwait's position in the international energy sector.
