Innovation Committee Organizes the Second Virtual Meeting of the "Hackathon"

  Under the patronage of the DCEO of MAA Fahad Al-Daihani, and in the presence of DCEO for Planning and Finance Khaled Al-Khayyat, the sponsor of KNPC Innovation Committee, which organized the second virtual hackathon, titled "Refineries Challenge", from the Innovation Studio on December 21, 2020  .

  Several oil sector companies, local and international business partners, and entrepreneurs in the industrial sector consisting of Kuwaiti youth, in collaboration with the National Fund for Small and Medium Businesses participated in the event. 

  On this occasion, Al-Dihani pointed to the importance of innovation and its modern techniques in facing the current challenges of the oil and gas sector, stressing that the implementation of this virtual event by the company's Innovation Committee comes unparalleled at the Kuwaiti and regional oil sector level.

He added that innovation is part of KPC Strategy to improve business performance and development. Therefore, the organization of this hackathon, means to address some of the challenges of our refineries, in innovative and new ways.

Al-Dihani thanked all the participants in this hackathon, commending KNPC Innovation Committee for its distinctive efforts to devote and promote the culture of innovation.

On their part, Engineers Bassam Al-Shammari, Committee Chairman, Badr Al-Harbi and Ahmed Al-Aoun conducted presentations on the most important challenges that the hackathon addresses, its mechanism, the participating teams and its timeline, as there will be two mentors, a technical guide, and another for innovation, for each team to direct and train the ten participating teams, so that these teams will introduce their innovative solutions next April.

The event included a panel discussion whereas a number of the following design innovation experts participated. The panelists were: Adel Hamid, Abdul Rahman Al-Munis, Muhammad Al-Rifai and Jasim Al-Mutawa, who tackled the basics of design brainstorming and how to apply it in industrial enterprises, while providing examples in the oil and gas sector.
