KNPC Forms a Committee to Familiarize Foreign Workers with their Rights

KNPC announced the formation of a social welfare committee to familiarize foreign workers in their projects with their rights as per their contracts and the Kuwait Labor Law.
The committee has conducted its first round at the Clean Fuels Project “CFP”, which includes the largest number of these workers, totaling about 50 thousand, working under 40 contracts entered to with contractors dealing with the company.
The Committee distributes introductory publications in eight different languages ​​(Arabic, English, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, and Tagalog) to ensure that the Committee's ideas are communicated to as many people as possible. They are available at different workplaces, especially entrances and exits thereof.
The Committee began a personal and collective interview with the “CFP” employees as a first step to familiarize them with their rights in, inter alia, the number of working hours, the calculation of overtime, salaries, entitlements, housing, measures to be taken when the temperature is too high as well as other associated rights.
The Committee also conducts periodic audits to ascertain the extent to which contractors comply with the Kuwaiti Labor Law and follow KNPC procedures, including workplaces and workers' housing.
Based on the company's commitment to the health, safety and environment requirements at its work sites, the Committee stressed during its meetings with these employees the importance of complying with these requirements and implementing them strictly to ensure their safety and to maintain equipment and facilities.
