Flare Gas Recovery Project Inaugurated at MAB

In the presence of the Chairman and General Manager of Public Authority for Environment Shaikh Abdullah Ahmed Al-Sabah, MAB DCEO Mutlaq Al-Azmi held a press conference inaugurating the flare gas recovery project at the refinery. The conference was also attended by the DCEO of Projects Abdullah Fahhad Al-Ajmi as well as a group of managers, TLs and project engineers.  
In his speech, Al-Azmi stated that the project constitutes a significant part of KNPC strategy conforming to KPC strategy in terms of relieving the environmental impact resulting from the oil industries.  
Al-Azmi said that the project is enrolled as part of Kuwait’s participation in “Clean Development Mechanism” Treaty which is a part of the international “Kyoto” Protocol of the UN. He added that this mirrors the company leading role in terms of environment and community and its strict compliance with the local and international environment standards.
 The Projects TL – Area 6 Nawwaf Al-Osaimi introduced the project’s objectives and significance in channelizing gases emitted from different units to the new unit at the refinery so as to be recycled and reused as fuel to the units. He said that the project designated capacity is 10 million cubic feet of gas on a daily basis.
On the sidelines of the press conference, the teams which have participated in the project, achieving 3.08 million working hours without lost work case (LWC) were honored.
